  1. I don’t like this – but then again, that’s because I don’t believe you can win people to Christ in one breath while making a joke out of them in another. We have to decide whether or not we’re going to be fresh water or salt water springs – we can’t be both. (see James 3.)

    1. I’m sorry that this offended you Jamie, and I get your point. I disagree that this meme turns people into joke, nor do I think that this is an example of cursing people. Certainly if Jesus could call people white-washed tombs, and Paul could write to the Galatians saying that he wished the Judaizers would go and emasculate themselves, this is not out of the realm of acceptability. Not that that means your offense was any less real or that I should take it less seriously.

      1. The difference is that Pharisees and Judaizers were religious groups who were all about following the rules to the letter, whereas members of the LGBTQ community are just everyday people. Jesus and Paul didn’t make it a habit of insulting regular people.

        1. I don’t agree with you Jamie both Jesus and Paul rebuked and warned when needed many times as confirmed in Scripture and yes those also whom you call regular people. Paul called the Corinthians Babs in Christ and Carnal, they were arguing about their own Carnal understandings and causing divisions instead of Trusting in God’s Truth also in (1Corinthians5 & 6 KJV) he also rebuked and at other times too. Jesus rebuked Peter because of his lack of Faith and also the other Disciples and others when needed (Luke 24:25 & Mark 8:13-21 KJV )

Homosexuals are going to suffer Eternally unless they Repent the same as all who Sin and continue to do so. I agree this is no laughing matter but nor do we look the other way and ignore evil. God Loves them but what they do is an abomination to Him and it must be to us too. He tells us not to call good what He calls evil or evil what He calls good but yes we are to Love everybody too.

Chuck’s point is Truth, many things said in jest are often True, No One is Born a Homosexual as confirmed Medically, it is a choice and this is why God condemns it’s practices. Aids is not a Virus, it is proven to be a Bactria in the Anus that attacks the immune System and now with having been passed on it’s caused to date; over 30 Million Men, Woman and Children to be infected with Aids and Aids related illnesses and many have died.

Homosexuals are committing Murder and will be held accountable for it, are you going to warn them Jamie or remain their friend and let them suffer Eternally.

          1. None of us are Jesus or Paul, just because they judged others with pastoral authority it doesn’t follow that we are to do the same. But even so, 1 Corinthians 5 tells us not to judge those who are outside the church and Christians have failed at that miserably. As for those inside the church, I point to 2 Corinthians 2, it’s up to us to forgive and comfort – Christians excel at casting their brothers and sisters out, but are even worse at comforting and forgiving one another.

          2. I’m sure you believe the Scriptures Jamie…1 Corinthians 6:17 But he that is joined unto the Lord is One Spirit.(KJV)

It’s True we are all One in Christ Jesus Spiritually Jamie and there is neither Male or Female, (Galatians3:28-29) although our roles are different, Men are to be in Authority under The Lord both in Church and in Marriage but we are your Helpmates and not just to wash up and have babies. It’s True as Woman we are not to be Ordained and to Teach in this Authority but we can share God’s Truth with Men and with other Woman and Children and so can other Men share with Woman and Children and with each other without them being in Leadership and this includes Scripture that Rebukes Sin, Corrects Error and Warns of Danger.

2 Timothy 3: 17 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for Doctrine, for Reproof, for Correction, for instruction in Righteousness. That the Man and Woman of God may be Perfect and thoroughly equipped to do all His good works.

Yes God asks us all to rebuke and warn those who Sin, with His Truth including our Neighbors, it saved my life once, I was not happy at the time about being rebuked by my Christian friends but I Thanked them later for doing so, I see that it is very important but yes we do so in Love and for Love and we don’t judge their Weaknesses and Shortcomings critically or do we judge their Eternal Destiny, only God knows their heart.

Proverbs 27:5-6 Open Rebuke is better than Secret love. Faithful are the wounds of a friend but the Kisses of an enemy are deceitful.(KJV)

I’m sure I’m sure you don’t believe Jamie we are to only Love those in the Church and they alone are our Neighbors.

Matthew 36- 40 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt Love thy Neighbour as thyself. On these two Commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Zechariah 8:16These are the things that ye shall do; Speak ye every man the Truth to his Neighbour; execute the judgment of Truth and peace in your gates.

Ecclesiastes 7:4-6 The heart of the Wise is in the house of mourning but the heart of fools is in the house of mirth. It is better to hear the rebuke of the Wise than for a man to hear the song of fools. For as the crackling of thorns under a pot so is the laughter of the fool this also is vanity.(KJV)

Ezekiel 33:8-9 When I say unto the wicked, O wicked man, thou shalt surely die; if thou dost not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity but his blood will I require at thine hand. Nevertheless, if thou warn the wicked of his way to turn from it; if he do not turn from his way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul. (KJV)

2 Timothy 4:1-3 I charge thee therefore before God, and The Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom; Preach the word be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;(KJV)

Titus 1:12-14 One of themselves, even a prophet of their own, said, the Cretians are alway liars, evil beasts, slow bellies. This witness is True. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the Faith; Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the Truth.(KJV)

Proverbs 9:7-9 He that reproveth a scorner getteth to himself shame and he that rebuketh a wicked man getteth himself a blot. Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee rebuke a Wise Man and he will Love thee. Give instruction to a Wise man, and he will be yet Wiser: teach a just Man and he will increase in learning.(KJV)

            Titus 2 :11 -15 For the grace of God that bringeth Salvation hath appeared to all men,Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and Godly, in this present world;
            Looking for that blessed Hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
Who gave Himself for us that He might Redeem us from all iniquity and purify unto Himself a peculiar people zealous of good works. These things speak and exhort and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.

          3. Perhaps the better question is: “What is Jesus’ spirit?” He gave us the golden rule, used the Good Samaritan to show us what compassion and mercy looks like, and quoted the Old Testament saying that God prefers mercy not sacrifice (that is, obeying rules). He also said that we aren’t supposed to Lord over one another our authority, but follow Jesus example to lay it down and put others before ourselves. Looking at the stories where Jesus was presented with a woman caught in adultery, he disobeyed the commandment that she must be stoned and pardoned her. When anyone was brought before him, he cured them even if they were sinners though others believed that God was justly punishing them for their sins with sickness. We have to be careful not to adopt ancient attitudes and beliefs just because they’re enshrined in God’s word – Jesus whole mission was to point out how wrong they were about how they acted on what they already believed to be true.

          4. Not Sinning Jamie which seems to be the whole focus of our discussion is not an ancient attitude or belief as we can see confirmed in the Scriptures below as well as in the Steps we are to take to ensure we do not continue to Sin as Christians. No Jesus did not come to Condemn but He also said to the Woman caught in Adultery; “Go and Sin No More ” if that was impossible why did He say it and that no Temptation will be greater than we can bear.

It is not Love to watch Passively as Satan gets a foothold in someones life and it was why I was rebuked by two Christian friends who risked our friendship to warn me because they Loved me enough to do so. I didn’t heed their rebuke at first I was too addicted to Gambling, which lead me into further Sin but later believing even God could not Love me anymore I was going to commit Suicide but Jesus rescued me.

I remembered what my friends said and I went to Him and asked for His help. I repented and was Anointed with Oil and delivered of my Addiction and also both my Life threatening conditions disappeared too without any Doctors intervention and this is Medically Documented. It has been 25 years since than and I have been Miraculously healed more than once again and they are also Documented and I have had Signs and Wonders that were witnessed by others and unable to be preformed by Man. I don’t attend a Pentecostal Church but I do believe God works Miraculously today, I have seen it abundantly in my own life and in other peoples lives too.

Sorry my reply still has a lot more to address Jamie but I do want to share with you the Scriptures that confirm the True picture of overcoming Sin, I’m not referring to weakness and shortcomings we all have them and we are also not to judge someones Eternal Destiny only God knows their heart, they may repent on their deathbed or before, the focus of these Scriptures is Freedom from Sin in Christ Jesus.

Salvation as we know Jamie is a free gift that we choose in Him and we will show we have it by our obedience. God tells us to turn from evil and do good, to put our Carnal flesh to death and to Aim to be Perfected in Love and Born Again, so we do not Sin and these are not works but God’s guidelines which we are to obey as confirmed in the Scriptures below. Yes People reject them, they ignore them and excuse them and even change them but they are God’s reality. As I shared; Death bed repentance is accepted if from the heart which only God knows as Jesus did with the Thief next to Him on the Cross.

*** God Tells us to put our Carnal flesh to death……..

Romans 8 :12-15 Therefore, brothers we have an obligation but it is not to the Sinful nature to live according to it or if you live according to the Sinful nature you will die but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body you will live because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.

Colossians 3:4-6 When Christ, who is your life, appears then you also will appear with Him in glory. Put to death therefore whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming.

Galatians 24 -26 And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. if we live in the Spirit let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

2 Corinthians 7: 1 Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, Perfecting Holiness in the fear of God

*** God Tells us to Aim to be Perfected in Love…….

Matthew 5:48 Be ye therefore Perfect even as your Father which is in Heaven is Perfect

Hebrews 6:1 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ let us go on unto Perfection not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of Faith toward God.

Philippians 3:14-16 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Let us therefore as many as be Perfect be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded God shall reveal even this unto you. Nevertheless where to we have already attained let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing.

2Timithy 3:17 That the Man of God may be Perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

1John 4:16-19 And we have known and believed the Love that God hath to us. God is Love; and he that dwelleth in Love dwelleth in God, and God in him. Herein is our Love made Perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as He is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in Love; but Perfect Love casteth out fear because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in Love. We Love Him because He first Loved us.

1 John 2:4-6 He that saith I know Him and keepeth not His commandments is a liar and the truth is not in him. But whoso keepeth His word in him verily is the Love of God Perfected: hereby know we that we are in Him. He that saith hebideth in Him ought himself also so to walk even as He walked.

2Corinthians 13:11 Finally, brethren, farewell. Be Perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in Peace and the God of Love and Peace shall be with you.

*** God Tells us we will no longer Sin……….

1 John 3:9 No one who is Born of God will continue to Sin, because God’s seed remains in him; he cannot go on Sinning, because he has been Born of God.

1John 5 18-20 We know that no one who is Born of God Sins but He who was Born of God keeps him, and the evil one does not touch him.

God tells us to to reckon ourselves dead to Sin Dan not to say we will or do sin and we are to put to death by the Spirit our evil flesh which causes us to Sin and Aim to be Perfected in Love and we can do this because Jesus has set us free and no Temptation is greater then we can bear.

Romans 6:11 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto Sin but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

What we believe in our heart Dan dominates our thoughts and becomes our words and actions. Proverbs 23:7a K.J.V

John 8:34-36 Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, everyone who Sins is a slave to Sin. Now a slave has no permanent place in the family but a son belongs to it forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

Romans 6:22-23 But now being made free from Sin and become Servants to God ye have your fruit unto Holiness and the end Everlasting Life. For the wages of Sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

1John 3 – No one who lives in Him keeps on Sinning. No one who continues to Sin has either seen Him or known Him. Dear children do not let anyone lead you astray. He who does what is right is Righteous, just as He is Righteous.

Romans 6:18-20 Being then made free from Sin, ye became the servants of Righteousness.

1 John 2:4-6 He that saith, I know Him, and keepeth not His Commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoso keepeth His word, in him verily is the Love of God Perfected: hereby know we that we are in Him. He that saith he abideth in Him ought himself also so to walk, even as He walked.

Colossians 3:4-6 When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory. Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming.

1John 4:16-17 And we have known and believed the Love that God hath to us. God is Love; and he that dwelleth in Love dwelleth in God, and God in him. Herein is our Love made Perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of Judgment: because as He is, so are we in this world.

Romans 6:6- 7 For we know that our old self was crucified with Him so that the body of Sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to Sin because anyone who has died has been freed from Sin.

If we claim we have not Sinned Jamie an don’t need Salvation we are calling God a lair but if we continue to Sin we are still in darkness (1John1) yes we can be-forgiven if we come to Heart Repentance but that means we reject Sin and no longer Sin by the empowering of The Holy Spirit as we can see clearly confirmed in the Scriptures above. Paul explained the weakness of the flesh in Romans 7 but shared what to do about it in Romans 8 and in other Scriptures as also noted above.

Christian Love Jamie and many Blessings to you and those you Love- Anne.
