Faith and Hope

Hebrews 11:1 (NLT) says, Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see. One comes with the other. Faith and hope are two sides of the same coin. To have faith is to have hope. To have hope, you must have faith. If you take away one you cannot have their other. When you place your hope in God by accepting the grace and forgiveness He offers through Jesus Christ, your feet are brought to stand firmly on the hope that God promises in Psalm 146:5 (NIV), Blessed are those whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the LORD their God.

  1. “These three remain–faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.” Why is love the greatest? Perhaps because God is love. The almighty and eternal God has no need for faith or for hope. Perhaps because in the new creation our faith and our hope will be fulfilled, but our love for God and for one another will never end.
