You do not have to worry about losing God’s love because of your failures. You are no different than Peter. Jesus knew Peter was going to deny Him three times. He knew he was going to fail. He knew he was going to fall flat on his face. He told him he knew. What did the angels tell the women who first came to the empty tomb? But go, tell his disciples and Peter, ‘He is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you’ (Mark 16:7).
In Luke 22:31-32, before Jesus predicts Peter’s denial, Jesus says to him, Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers. Jesus was praying for him and was spiritually protecting him even knowing that he as going to fail. Jesus’ only request was that he take his experience of God’s grace and faithfulness to him with his fellow believers and so strengthen his brothers. Jesus is doing that for each of us. Jesus is always interceding for you before the Father. Satan may desire to sift you like wheat, but Jesus has been and will continue to pray for you, that your faith may not fail.
You just don’t know…this was for me!
