So that though it may in some sense be said that mercy overcame justice, and rejoices against judgment; yet in Christ Jesus justice rather willingly yields to mercy. Justice withdraws its hands, and goes away satisfied, without the blood of God’s offending people; because ’tis satisfied in the blood of their surety. For in Christ Jesus, “Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other” (Psalms 85:10).
