Mandi has a thing for candy. After Halloween she went to the store looking for sales on overstock of bags of candy–preferably Snickers. She was successful.
There is a time and place for candy. There is no harm in have some candy every once in a while. In fact, it can be very enjoyable. But you can’t live on candy. At least, you can’t and expect to be healthy. It looks good, smells good, and tastes good, but it is not good food.
In a similar way, we sometimes we confuse looking good, sounding good, and being good with being spiritually healthy. The Rich Young Ruler of Matthew 19 looked good, sounded good, and acted good, but he was really only eye candy. What do our family, friends, co-workers, and people at church think after they have spent time with us? Do we leave the impression that we are spiritual eye candy, or that being with us is good food for the soul?
One-Eyed Candy is a great title for a sermon here!

Amen…If folks could only see the ‘inside’. But God sure does!

I’m glad the Spirit lives there. Otherwise it would be pretty nasty. =)
