With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be (James 3:9-10).
One timely application of this verse is to put it like this: “Out of the same mouth we praise God and curse the person who is Republican / Democrat / celebrating Halloween / refuses to believe you are right, even though they are made in the likeness of God. My brothers and sisters this should not be.” Think about that. James says that if you are not working to speak the truth in love and with love, your religion is worthless (James 1:26).
