All I Need (a Prayer)

Father God,

I praise You for being who You are.
Your love is limitless.
The gravity of Your grace pulls me to You.
Your compassion is consumes my hurt.
Your faithfulness frees my spirit.
I wonder at the breadth and depth of Your wisdom,
the resolve of Your righteousness,
and the steadfastness of Your sovereignty.

You know who I am.
You know—and you love me anyway.
You know—and You call me Yours.

Jesus You are all I need. For with You there is forgiveness, and with You there is always hope.
For there is no sin You cannot forgive,
no wound You cannot heal,
no brokenness You cannot mend,
no need You cannot meet,
and no promise You cannot keep.
It is greater than that, in fact,
for the “cannot” which affirms Your power and greatness is joined by a “will not” because of Your love and faithfulness towards me.

That comforts me, for I know how broken I am.
I see the dark and murky places in my heart and mind.
I fail and fall and flounder.
But I am drawn to repent and lean on You again and again. I know that I am not enough. I know that my wisdom, strength, and power are not enough. Without You, Jesus, I am undone.

But with You,
in You,
through You,
by grace
You have lifted me up and given me all.
I depend on You for everything.

May Your faithfulness and love and grace towards me be seen in how I live and love.
My desire is not to be a sponge that continually soaks up what You give, but to be a spring through which Your grace and truth flow to family and neighbor.
May I love people more deeply, and yet be less and less concerned by people’s opinion of me.
May I be both thankful and generous,
humble before You and confident in You,
righteous and compassionate,
patient and prayerful,
and full of grace and truth.
