This quote gets to the heart of why love without grace is little more than a shadow of the Real Thing. The kind of love God wants us to have for one another is no different than the love He has for us in Christ; and that love sees all our dirty little secrets, all the skeletons in the closet, and all our flaws, blind-spots, and shortcomings, and loves us anyway. That’s grace. Grace is what allows you to keep loving a person when you know the truth about them. Few things are more damning to a relationship than truth without grace. Love = Grace + Truth.
The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth (John 1:14, NIV).
