That’s true isn’t it. No one likes being broken. Anyone who says otherwise is selling something. Glow sticks don’t look like much when they are whole. But when they are broken and shaken, you can see them from a long way off in the dark. When we are broken, God’s grace and mercy fills us and makes us bring light in dark places. Because of Jesus we don’t have to fear being broken. What I have been learning is that I need to stop thinking that being broken is a hindrance to God’s using me. Sometimes it is the very think that makes enables His grace to shine through me to others.
But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body (2 Corinthians 4:7-10, NIV).
Learning To Be Full Of Grace And Truth.

I am learning that broken really is best, that the wisest thing to do when life overwhelms us, is to break and lean into the Lord. In our weakness, he is strong. Some of us are such rocks, like little kids who insist we got this thing, so realizing we don’t can be a real blessing.

Yup. Couldn’t have said it better. It’s a hard thing to be learning, that it’s good to be broken. But it is the way of things isn’t it? We just don’t like to admit it. An acorn can become an oak, but only if it breaks first.
